Direct flights between Italy and Libya operating from January 12, 2025


ITA Airways, the Italian reference airline, opens today the ticket sales for its new direct flight between Rome Fiumicino and Tripoli Mitiga. The new connections will start operating on January 12, 2025.

The Rome -Tripoli flight will operate with two weekly frequencies, with departures every Thursday and Sunday, according to the following schedule:

  • Departure from Rome Fiumicino at 9:15 a.m. (local time), arriving in Tripoli Mitiga at 12:10 p.m. (local time)
  • Departure from Tripoli Mitiga at 1:05 p.m. (local time), arriving in Rome Fiumicino at 2:10 p.m (local time).

Libya represents a strategically important market for ITA Airways, which is committed to fostering Italy's presence in this Country, supporting the several leading Italian companies engaged locally in significant industrial projects.

The resumption of direct flights between Rome Fiumicino and Tripoli Mitiga has been made possible with the essential support of Italy’s Prime Minister’s Office and collaboration from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Transport, as well as civil aviation authorities from both Italy and Libya (ENAC and the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority) with ITA Airways.

ITA Airways has worked tirelessly, in close cooperation with the Prime Minister’s Office, the Government, and ENAC, to establish regular connections between Italy and Libya,” said Andrea Benassi, General Manager ITA Airways. “Libya is a highly important market, and this route will enhance trade between our nations while supporting the many Italian businesses operating in the North African country”.

With the opening of Tripoli, the destinations served by ITA Airways in the winter season will be 55.

Tickets for the Rome Fiumicino – Tripoli route are now available through ITA Airways’ official sales channels, including the website at www.ita-airways.com, the airline's Customer Information Assistance Office, travel agencies, and airport ticket offices.
