Edi Wolfensberger and Bernd Bauer
According to a press release from Lufthansa, the group's board has appointed Edi Wolfensberger as CEO of the Swiss leisure airline.
This 45-year-old Swiss man will take up his duties on October 1, 2026, succeeding Bernd Bauer, who is leaving the company after twelve years at the helm.
Professional course
Wolfensberger has been Chief Operating Officer (COO) and a member of the Executive Board of Eurowings since April 2022. Previously, he held positions including Chief Operating Officer of Brussels Airlines and Managing Director of Lufthansa Aviation Training Switzerland. He began his career in 2008 at Swiss, where he held various roles in finance and commercial operations.
His predecessor
This change is also explained by a Lufthansa Group rule: senior executives generally cease their operational activities at the age of 60. Bauer celebrated his 60th birthday last year.
